The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Displeasure Over Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
