Approximately fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior political figure commented the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
